Reduced Modular Load Application

Students who feel that they need to spread out their course load over more semesters to complete their Diploma course for the reasons shown below, may consider requesting for reduced modular load.  Students who are keen may approach their Personal Tutors to explore the feasibility.

  • Academic Challenges
  • Family or Financial Challenges
  • Mental and Emotional Challenges
  • Medical Reasons (e.g. Serious illness)
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Students are to note that application is subject to approval and course fees are chargeable for any extra semester(s) taken.

In addition, any student who has enjoyed the maximum in Tuition Grant semesters (funding by Singapore Government) will have to pay full fees for any extra semester(s) taken to complete the course.

The maximum number of semester(s) granted is dependent upon your entry point. For example:

  • For a fresh student entering year 1 for a 3-year full-time diploma course (i.e. have not enjoyed the tuition grant previously at other institutions of higher learning), you will be granted 10 semesters of Tuition Grant funding
  • For a fresh student entering directly into year 2, you will be granted 8 semesters of Tuition Grant funding.

Application opens on the day of the release of exam results and closes 1 week after term commencement.

Leave of Absence Application (for Classes/Tests/Assessments)

Students who wish to apply for a Leave of Absence from classes, tests or assessments may submit an application here under Attendance > Apply / View of Leave of Absence (LOA).

Refer to Student Handbook > Leave of Absence (LOA) for more information.
Course Withdrawal Submission

Students intending to withdraw from their course of study must complete a "Withdrawal Form" (available here under Academics > Withdrawal from Diploma Course) and email it to contactus@sp.edu.sg.

Note that absence from class does not constitute withdrawal from course; you are still considered a student of the 91proÊÓƵ and are liable to pay fees until you submit your withdrawal form.

Any withdrawals received after the commencement of the semestral exams will be processed only after the release of the examination results. Hence, you will still be subject to the examination rules. Should you be removed from your course of study, your "removed" status will remain and your withdrawal will not be effected. Otherwise, withdrawal date will be post-dated to the day after the release of the examination results.

International students are required to return their Student's Pass (STP) to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore upon cessation of their study within 7 days. Students with a SingPass account may submit self-cancellation of their STP at  .

Students cannot withdraw between the start of the semestral exams and the release of examination results.

Students will be liable for the following fees, depending on when the withdrawal form is submitted:

  1. Before semester commencement: Full refund of tuition fees (minus $50 administrative fee (for new students), Students’ Union Entrance and Subscription fees)
  2. Within first week: 25% tuition fees payable
  3. After first week: 100% tuition fees payable

There is no refund of the administrative,  Students’ Union Entrance and Subscription fees regardless of the time of withdrawal.
