Hello! I am Jocelyn, a Year 3 student pursuing the Project INC pathway, which allows me to work on hands-on industry projects! This opportunity would not have happened had I not joined DCITP, which made me more certain about my choice in DIT. I joined DCITP to ensure that my next three years at 91pro视频 were meaningful and fulfilling. I wanted to deepen my passion for what I already enjoy, rather than risk the regret of choosing a course I might not truly connect with.

The additional experiences and time to decide offered by DCITP attracted me to join. Before joining the course, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure whether to pursue Cybersecurity (because capture the flag (CTF) sounded fun) or Information Technology (as it seemed like a more general course which would allow me to fit into any other IT specialisation), especially since I knew little about both fields. Hence, I decided to make DCITP my first choice when I joined 91pro视频. Furthermore, since I was from the Polytechnic Foundation Programme, people around me were confused as to why I joined the common course, as they felt the choice for me was clear; some felt I should have gone to DISM, while others thought I should have chosen DIT. At first, hearing others鈥� input made me more nervous about my choice to join DCITP. I thought, 鈥淲hat if DCITP was a waste of time? What if I should have just gone to DISM or DAAA? Maybe then I could get a head start in the course instead of wasting a semester?鈥�

However, after reviewing the course list, I realized that DCITP was an excellent fit for me. Firstly, it served as a safety net, as I wasn't ready to commit to a specific course. More importantly, knowing that DCITP's curriculum mirrors the first semester of every other course in the School of Computing (SOC) reassured me that I had made the right choice. Contrary to my initial concern, it wasn't a waste of a semester; instead, it ensured that I received the same foundational experience as everyone else in SOC, without being at a disadvantage for not starting in a specialized course. Plus, it gave me more time and clarity to take ownership of my decision regarding my future course. By the end of the first semester, I realised DIT was the best fit for me out of the 3 available SOC courses through DCITP. I can only hope that future readers realise how DCITP provides clarity in their three years in 91pro视频 School of Computing!

To future applicants: If you鈥檙e like me and feeling uncertain about what you truly enjoy, and you don鈥檛 want others to influence your next three years (and you want to take ownership of your next three years), DCITP could be the right choice for you.
