A cross-border industry visit to Johor Bahru on 9 June 2025 was organised for 91pro视频 Diploma in Optometry (DOPT) students, featuring two leading vision care companies 鈥 Alcon and Zeiss. The visit provided valuable insights into the manufacturing and technological innovations shaping modern eyecare.
At Alcon Centre, the students observed the contact lens manufacr the precision, quality control and sustainability efforts involved in producing soft lenses. Year 3 student Taegen Tee Jing En reflected on the experience: 鈥淚 had a great time visiting the Alcon Centre in JB! I learned how Air Optix contact lenses are made, from the blisters to the lenses! I also got to see the advanced technology and machines behind it. It was a fascinating experience in a well-organised and positive work environment!鈥

At Zeiss Vision Centre, the focus was on diagnostic and imaging technologies. The students explored advanced instruments like OCTs and autorefractors, and learned how data-driven lens design is used to personalise vision correction. The experience offered a deeper understanding of how technology supports clinical decision-making and enhances patient care. On the visit, year 3 student Shaun Kho Jun Rui shared 鈥淭he visit to the Zeiss Vision Centre at Mid Valley was really eye-opening. I was impressed by how thorough and high-tech their eye assessment process was. It gave me a better understanding of how detailed vision checks can improve customer care!鈥
